Compatible with tyres up to 765mm in diameter.
This covers you for the two popular ‘big tyre’ options on the Jimny – 235/75/R15 and the larger 30” tyres.
On 16” rims you’re covered up to 265/70/R16 or 30”.
To be 100% sure, measure the total width of your spare tyre including the tread. -
Unfortunately not with most aftermarket extended struts.
The Jimny’s stock rear door strut opens the door 75 degrees, which provides ample clearance for the Backbone Hub with the strut fully extended.
The maximum opening angle is approx 85 degrees before the Backbone Hub and/or attachments would make contact with your Jimny. So if you are using an extended strut which has the capability to stop the door at any opening angle (rather than opening to full extension automatically) this should be perfectly workable. You would just need to be mindful of the 85 degree max opening limit.
-
The total load rating for the Backbone Hub is 40kg with max 25kg loaded on the lower level and max 15kg on the two upper levels.
The combinations cargo are endless: jerry cans, gas bottles, shower tanks, cargo bags, firewood, recovery tracks, spades, axes, tow ropes, chainsaws. This is only what we’ve tested – there will be many more.
For jerry can compatibility, review the Jerry+ Carrier page. -
The backbone hub is designed for use with a cable-style combination lock (as you would use on a bike).
The ‘spine cut outs’ on the Backbone Hub allow you to simply loop the cable around the hub, and through the handles of any jerry cans or other precious cargo.
