Suzuki Jimny owners, we have your back. The SJ Backbone Rear Cargo Hub changes the way you can load, travel and camp.

This rock-solid rear door mounting system gives you the option to stack a variety of heavier cargo directly over the door hinges. This is the sweetspot for strength, practicality, and even driveability. It’s simple physics – with your cargo weight secured lower, your Jimny will be less prone to wobbling or wandering.

Load rated to 40kg total (25kg lower level/15kg upper level) the Backbone is built to turn your Jimny into a nimble pack horse.

The Backbone is your base hub, the sturdy frame on which you can mount Skinny Jim’s range of specific carriers and attachments:

Jerry+ Carrier (tie-down straps included)
Wood+ Open Carrier (tie-down straps included)
Magic Mount Recovery Track Adaptor Kit

Integrated with the Backbone base hub:

Integrated UHF Antenna mount
RotoPax mounting holes (requires Rotopax mount not included)
M6 Fist Clamp Mounting Holes (for Spades, Axes and other accessories). Fist Clamps not included.

Installation – a dead simple, 4 step assembly. The Backbone attaches cleanly and securely to existing fixings, beneath the spare wheel mount and onto the door hinges.

Compatible with tyres up to 765mm in diameter.

This covers you for the two popular ‘big tyre’ options on the Jimny – 235/75/R15 and the larger 30” tyres (30/9.5/R15).

On 16” rims you can go up to 265/70/R15.

To be 100% sure, measure your tyres from one side to the other.
The total load rating for the Backbone Hub is 40kg with max 25kg loaded on the lower level and max 15kg on the two upper levels.
The combinations cargo are endless: jerry cans, gas bottles, shower tanks, cargo bags, firewood, recovery tracks, spades, axes, tow ropes, chainsaws. This is only what we’ve tested – there will be many more.

Unfortunately not. The factory (or any other standard length) door strut gives the clearance required to load anything substantial in this area of the vehicle (and open the door!).

At this stage it’s one or the other – Backbone Hub or extended strut.
The backbone hub is designed for use with a cable-style combination lock (as you would use on a bike).
The ‘spine cut outs’ on the Backbone Hub allow you to simply loop the cable around the hub, and through the handles of any jerry cans or other precious cargo.
The Backbone Rear Door Hub weighs 3.1kg total, including fixings.
